The former United Nations secretary-general was the first black person to hold the post
KOFI ANNAN, the UN’s first black secretary-general died in hospital in Geneva aged 80 yesterday (August 18) following a short illness.
Leaders around the world have been conveying their feelings on the news of Annan’s death and his undeniable legacy. Here are some of the tributes that have been paid to him so far.
