Guns stolen in Camden Township

Sometime Thursday between 12:45 p.m. and 5 p.m., someone forced their way into a Base Line residence and stole numerous items, including firearms, said Chatham-Kent police.

The stolen items included:

– Ruger .223 Mini 14 semi-automatic rifle along with two magazines and two boxes of ammunition. Rifle was trigger-locked;

– Rossi 12-gauge, double-barrel, side-by-side shotgun along with two boxes of ammunition. Shotgun was trigger-locked;

– 42” Samsung TV; – iMac desktop computer;

– Gold ring with January birthstone;

– Camden Township watch for 20 years of service;

– Gold ring with the initials “VWM.”

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $4,000.

Man arrested from wanted list

On Thursday, a man called police from Bothwell to make arrangements to turn himself in.

The 38-year-old man was arrested on numerous outstanding warrants for failing to comply, breach of probation, uttering a forged document, break and enter and failing to attend court, police said.

He was held for bail.

Outstanding warrant arrest On Thursday, a woman attended police headquarters and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

The 32-year-old Chatham woman was released with a court date.

Youths charged with theft Police attended the park on the corner of King Street and Princess Street in Chatham on Thursday night.

At this time, police learned that two male youths had allegedly stolen the purse of a female teen. The youths were identified and located a short time later.

The 15-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

The 16-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and resisting arrest.

Both teens were released to their parents with a court date.

Public intoxication On Thursday evening, an intoxicated man attended police headquarters.

After speaking with an officer, the man walked out, police said. He was immediately taken into custody outside on Third Street for his own safety as he was unable to care for himself, police said.

The 55-year-old Chatham man was released when sober.

Blenheim break-ins Sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, someone entered a residence on Docherty Drive and stole two purses.
