SOUTH BUXTON – Steve Shaw was in seventh heaven Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway.
The veteran driver from Merlin won his seventh career championship race when he took the checkered flag in the Thunderstocks’ feature.
Shaw grabbed the lead after a few cautions and held off the field for his latest win in a victory-filled season.
Jody Mason was second and Gofast Teeple was third.
Jake Hooker celebrated his first career Late Models feature win with his family, including his father, Kirk.
Kirk Hooker is no stranger to victory lane after winning numerous features during his long racing career.
“It’s cool to be in victory lane with Jake and the 38 car, my wife, my daughter – it’s unbelievable,” he said.
Dale Glassford was second and Tim Mackenzie was third.
Jim Dale Jr. was in good spirits after winning his first Modifieds feature this year.
“Finally, it’s about time we got here!” he said.
His crew helped him reach victory lane by fixing an oil leak from the heat race.
Brad McLeod was second and Brian Speelman was third.
Marshall Hereygers continued his good season with another win in the Mini Mods feature.
“It’s good to be back,” Hereygers said. “… I would not be here today if I didn’t have everyone and all the support I do today.”
Dylan Bonner was second and West Bertozzi was third.
The Mini Mods will hold their championship race this Saturday.
The championship races for the Late Models and Modifieds are Saturday, Sept. 15.
The Thunderstocks’ autograph night has been moved to Saturday, Sept. 22.
