Trini remanded despite being granted $15,000 bail

A 39-year-old Trinidadian woman will spend the night at HMP Dodds after her surety failed to return to court in time to secure her bail.

Claudia Sancaro, who currently lives at Apartment No 1, Hothersal Turning, St Michael, was granted $15,000 bail when she appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant earlier today on a wounding charge.

All that was needed for the accused
woman to be set free until the next court date were the necessary papers securing the bail sum.

However, with her only surety failing to make it back to the No 2 District ‘A’ Magistrate’s by the end of the sitting, she was remanded to Dodds until tomorrow.

Sancaro is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Vanessa Alexander on September 1, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable her or to do some serious bodily harm to her.

The accused, who was represented by attorney-at-law Denis Headley, was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
