Windrush compensation: urgent call to Caribbean community

Individuals affected by the recent scandal are being encouraged to come forward before October 11 to help shape a government scheme

AN URGENT appeal has been made to families and individuals affected by the recent Windrush scandal to come forward to help shape a new compensation scheme.

A formal public consultation for the scheme was launched in July this year with hundreds of people coming forward.

But with the public consultation due to end on October 11 Home Office officials say they want many more Windrush families to share their experiences and ideas in a bid to redress the difficulties they have faced proving their British citizenship following the introduction of tighter immigration laws.
