Education academics meet to discuss ‘anti-black’ histories being taught in British schools and how our past can be better represented in classrooms
A RECENT seminar held at a British University aims to tackle the lack of black history taught within UK schools and equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to engage with black historical consciousness.
Organised by Dr Nadena Doharty, a lecturer in education at the University of Sheffield, professionals reasoned that the only way to end racism was to move away from ‘anti-black’ histories that “prevent us from seeing black people as total humans”.
