An 18-year-old will spend the next seven days on remand at HMP Dodds as his mother contemplates whether she wants to continue as his surety.
Elijah Akeem Copeland of Chase Road, Halls Road, St Michael lost his freedom today when it was revealed that he not only missed his court date but that his mother who had posted bail on his behalf in the sum of $7,000 on three criminal charges was “frustrated” with his attitude.
Copeland is charged along with others with stealing 32 bales of soap powder worth $1,410 belonging to Mohammed Laki on December 28, 2015.
He is also separately charged with attempting to defraud Headquarters Sports Bar of a bottle of liquor worth $154 by allegedly uttering and obtaining the item with four BDS$50 notes knowing them to be forged on February 15.
The accused teen will make his next appearance before Magistrate Douglas Frederick on October 26.
