Skinner asserts his sanity

A 51-year-old man was remanded to HMP Dodds today after making it clear that he was “not a madman” when the prosecutor requested that he be sent to the Psychiatric Hospital for observation and report.

When Wayne Gregory Skinner, of 1st Avenue Grazettes, St Michael appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court today he denied assaulting police constables Marco Bovell and Marlon Hinds as well as resisting Hinds on October 22 as they executed their duties.

Despite his plea Station Sergeant Carrison Henry objected to bail on the grounds that the accused was in need of help and requested that he be sent to the Black Rock, St Michael institution for evaluation.

“I don’t need no psychiatric help. . . . My birthday is next week and they just don’t want me to enjoy myself. I am not a madman . . . this is a conspiracy,” the accused stated as he made his application for bail which was denied.

Skinner will reappear before Magistrate Douglas Frederick on November 21.
