THERE ARE not too many musicians who can say they are the first ‘sound man’ to be awarded an OBE, but that’s the sort of ac- claim that can be hung around the neck of Jazzie B.

Having literally trod in his own lane ever since he had to take the number 14 bus from his birthplace, Finsbury Park, in order to get anywhere to expose his talent, Jazzie B is embarking on a 30th anniversary tour of the UK with Soul II Soul over the next week, his longevity a testament to his adaptability, evolution and importance to the British musical landscape.
