INVENTORY TO LOOK AT HEALTH OF FISH

FOUR CARIBBEAN countries have completed an inventory of the main sources of mercury contamination and the impact on the seafood chain. The project, funded by the Global Environment Facility, included Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica and St Lucia. Officials said it was necessary because eating contaminated large predatory fish over time could cause physical and mental disability.
