Wheatley man charged with assault

A 44-year-old Wheatley man is facing an assault charge in connection to a domestic dispute Sunday night.

Chatham-Kent police said officers were called to a residence in Wheatley where it was determined a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the accused assaulting his wife.

Police said the man was placed in custody pending a bail hearing.

Ridgetown woman charged with impaired

A 52-year-old Ridgetown woman is facing an impaired driving charge after being pulled over by a Chatham-Kent OPP officer on McKay’s Line around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

OPP said while speaking to the driver, the officer determined she had consumed alcohol.

A roadside test was conducted on the driver who registered a fail, OPP said, resulting in the driver being transported to the detachment for further tests.

Upon further investigation, the accused was charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.

The accused was given a Nov 30 court date to answer to the charges.

Warrants executed

Chatham-Kent executed four warrants on residents wanted for various offences.

Police said a 42-year-old Chatham woman, wanted for failing to attend court in connection to shoplifting and fraud charges, was located Sunday afternoon and arrested.

She was placed in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police said a warrant was issued on Friday for 25-year-old Chatham man wanted for failing to comply with conditions of his probation order.

He was located Sunday night and arrested and charged, and later released with a Nov. 20 court date.

Police said a 14-year-old Chatham male, wanted in connection with a mischief investigation in Chatham last month was located Sunday night.

He was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and released with a Nov. 19 court date.

Responding to a noise complaint early Sunday morning, led to police laying two charges against a 28-year-old Chatham man.

Police said through investigation said they located the accused, who was wanted for failing to attend court and mischief under $5,000.

He was released with a Nov. 7 court date.

Chatham woman charged in crash

A 29-year-old Chatham woman has been charged in connection to a two-vehicle collision o Wellington Street near Centre Street in Chatham on Sunday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman was charged with failing to stop for a red light.

No one was injured and total damage is estimated at $4,000.

Dirt bike stolen

Chatham-Kent police are investigating the theft of dirt bike.

Police said yellow and white 1994 Suzuki 250 dirt bike was stolen from a shed on Base Line sometime between last Wednesday and Sunday.

The value of the dirt bike is estimated at $2,000.
