Campaigners call for a BAME figure on new £50 note

Many have said it is "shocking" that there has never been a BAME figure on a UK banknote

CAMPAIGNERS have called for the Bank of England to have a black, asian, minority ethnic (BAME) figure as the face of the new £50 note.

The campaign, led by director Zehra Zaidi, has gained the support from over 200 people across entertainment and politics, including Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE and Afua Hirsch, who have called for the move in a bid to “reflect modern multicultural Britain".
