Chatham man lands in custody after found sleeping in car

A 36-year-old Chatham man landed in custody after Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a suspicious person sleeping in a car.

Police were called to Balmoral Road in Chatham on Tuesday morning and when officers located the man, he gave another name.

Through investigation, police said the true identity of the accused was confirmed and it was learned he was wanted for domestic-related offences.

The accused was arrested on the outstanding warrant and was also charged with obstructing police.

He was taken to the Chatham courthouse and placed in custody pending a bail hearing.

C-K cops find wanted men

Chatham-Kent police caught up with two men wanted for separate offences.

A 24-year-old Chatham man, who failed to attend court last September, was located by police in Wheatley on Tuesday afternoon and arrested on a warrant.

He was released with a Feb. 27 court date.

Tuesday night, police responded to a report of a suspicious man in the Chatham Walmart store.

After police found the 27-year-old Wallaceburg resident, investigation revealed he was wanted for failing comply with his probation order, theft and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and failing to attend court.

He was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
