17U Girls

The Chatham Ballhawks won bronze medals at a Bugarski Cup tournament Saturday in Oakville.

The Ballhawks beat Toronto Leaside 25-14, 18-25, 16-14 in the bronze-medal match.

They lost to Forest City 2-1 in a semifinal after beating Redline 2-1 in a quarter-final.

The Ballhawks were second in their pool with a 1-1 record.

They qualified for the premier-division event after winning their previous tournament.

‘AA’ Hockey

Minor Bantams

The Kent Cobras have advanced to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association semifinals after beating the Oakville Rangers 6-2 in a six-point quarter-final.

Ryan Holly had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win Saturday in Game 4 at Thames Campus Arena.

Ryan Brophy and Daniel Norton also scored. Tyler Harper was the winning goalie.

Ryder Polowick had a goal and two assists in a 4-2 win Friday in Game 3 in Tilbury. Aiden VenHuizen, Holly and Austen Drew also scored. Maddux Stewart was the winning goalie.

The Cobras will face the Guelph Gryphons in a six-point semifinal. The first two games are Saturday and Sunday in Guelph.

Novices

Lucas Raspburg had a hat trick in the Kent Cobras’ 5-5 tie with the Tecumseh-Shoreline Eagles on Sunday in Tilbury. Ashton Dittmer added a goal and an assist. Keaten Copeland also scored.

Raspburg and Luca Rolo scored Friday in a 9-2 loss to the Windsor Jr. Spitfires at Chatham Memorial Arena.

‘AAA’ Hockey

Minor Bantams

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones beat the Hamilton Huskies 6-4 in an Alliance Hockey six-point consolation series.

Colton Graham had the winning goal and an assist Sunday in a 2-1 win in Game 5 in Hamilton. David Brown also scored, Brayden DeGelas had two assists and Tre Altiman was in net.

DeGelas scored in overtime and also had an assist Saturday in a 2-1 win in Game 4 at Chatham Memorial Arena. Brown had a goal and an assist. Jake Vancoillie was in net.

Altiman posted the shutout Friday in a 0-0 tie in Game 3 in Hamilton.

Rorey Elson, Graham and Sajan Brouwer scored in a 3-3 tie in Game 2 at Memorial Arena. Vancoillie was in net.

Graham and DeGelas scored in a 3-2 loss in Game 1 in Hamilton.
