Black excellence at the BAFTAs

BlacKkKlansman and Black Panther among the films that took home top prizes

THE 72nd BAFTAS took place Sunday evening (Feb 10) with stars including Mahershala Ali and Spike Lee taking home top prizes.

After winning a Golden Globe for his role in Green Book, Ali also scooped the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor.

“BAFTA thank you for this. My fellow nominees thank you for your work. You know the work itself has always been the reward for me so it’s a little surreal [to win] for something you feel so passionate about and grateful for,” said Ali. The actor also thanked director Peter Farrelly and cast mate Viggo Mortensen while accepting his award.
