Kenya’s first Olympian dies

Nyandika Maiyoro passed away at the age of 88

KENYAN ATHLETE Nyantika Maiyoro has died at the age of 88.

The retired sports star was admitted into the Christamarianne Hospital in Kisii County, Kenya, where local reports claim he was diagnosed with Tuberculosis.

According to his son, Nyantika went into a coma on Sunday (Feb 24) after developing breathing problems and died shortly after.

"Mzee has left us. I'm now preparing his body for the morgue," Mr. Nyantika said on Sunday night.
