Letitia Wright says she almost quit acting due to depression

The Black Panther actress delivered an emotional and encouraging speech as she collected the EE Rising Star award at last night’s Baftas

LETITIA WRIGHT revealed that she almost quit acting due to depression during an emotional acceptance speech at last night’s Baftas.

Wright won the EE Bafta Rising Star award, the only prize voted for by the public. It was presented to her by Regina King and Luke Evans.

The 25-year-old, who is a Christian, began her acceptance speech by thanking God and then went on to reveal that her faith, family, friends and an email from Bafta had helped lift her out of a deep state of depression.

Wright captivated audiences around the world playing Shuri in Black Panther.
