President of Paradise Football Club Adrian Donovan showed five of his senior national players some appreciation with monetary gifts before they departed this morning to represent Barbados in the Windward Islands Football Association tournament to be played in St. Vincent.
Speaking after the team's departure from the Grantley Adams International Airport, Donovan said he was confident the Paradise players Mario 'Bagga' Williams, Armando 'Suga' Lashley, Ackeel Applewhaite and Jomo Harris who are all midfielders along with defender Ramon Manning would do Barbados proud.

“Paradise club through its board of directors strongly believes that when our young people do well, they should be rewarded for their efforts and shown appreciation. These young men are outstanding, and it is my hope that they represent not only the club but the country to the best of their abilities.
“We are at a stage where we should highlight more positive things that are happening, and these young people in many cases just need some attention and an ear to listen,” Donovan said.
At present Paradise (on 27 points) are challenging for the top spot in zone two of the Barbados Football Association Premier League competition.
That zone is currently being led by three-time defending champions Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme jointly tied on 32 points with the Empire Club.
Last year the Dover-based Paradise side captured three major titles in BFA-sanctioned competitions when they lifted the Knockout championship, Premier League Reserve and the Under-23 trophies.
Paradise currently boasts of having five junior teams and four senior squads and Donovan, a veteran administrator, explained that this year the club would be sending three of its youth teams overseas to compete in some summer competitions.
“Our youth teams are currently playing competitive football in the BFA's elite competition, and our management that comprises Kenville Layne, Auguste Jacob, Rudy Pinder, Mark Cox, Shawn Stoute, Jonathon Straker and Gregory Bobb are all working to ensure that the Paradise Club remain competitive especially when they travel aboard,” Donovan said.
