Lancers to play for OFSAA curling medal

The Ursuline Lancers will play for a medal Saturday at the OFSAA boys’ curling championship in North Bay.

Ursuline will face Brantford North Park in a semifinal. The winner will play either Barrie Eastview or Thunder Bay St. Ignatius for gold, while the loser will play for bronze.

The Lancers beat Etobicoke Bishop Allen 5-3 in a semifinal Friday night. They scored two in the first end and, after their lead shrank to one, scored two more in the fifth for a 5-2 lead.

The Lancers lost their pool finale 4-3 to Eastview in the morning. Ursuline scored twice in the seventh end for a 3-1 lead, but Eastview replied with three in the eighth.

Eastview (5-0) placed first in the pool. Ursuline (4-1) was second.
