A 46-year-old St. Thomas man is in trouble with the law after being found passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in Chatham on Tuesday night. While on general patrol, Chatham-Kent police officers were alerted about a man who appeared to be passed out while in his vehicle.
After investigating, police alleged the accused was driving while impaired by a drug.
He was charged with the offence and released with a court date.
Arrests made on warrants
Chatham-Kent police caught up to four people on Tuesday wanted on separate warrants for various offences.
Police said a woman, wanted for failing to attend court, was found and arrested. She was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
A 23-year-old Chatham man, wanted for failing to comply with his probation order, was located and arrested. He was released with a court date.
Police spotted a 25-year-old Chatham man walking along a street in Chatham and were able to confirm he was wanted for a number of outstanding warrants.
He was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
During the evening, officers located a 30-year-old Chatham man on Colborne Street in Chatham and found out he was currently wanted for breaching his bail conditions.
He was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
Scholarships available
The deadline is March 22 for students graduating high school this year to submit a video that could earn them one of three $1,000 scholarships from the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
Students who are pursuing post-secondary education at a recognized institution in September are invited to a submit a video that addresses one of the three pillars of commitment to the community as stated by Chief Gary Conn in the police service’s 2018-2020 business plan – road safety, mental health or property crimes.
