Westover program expanding to four weeks

A program offered by Westover Treatment Centre, which focuses on helping women build self-esteem, will soon be expanding from three weeks to four.

Courage to Change was originally offered to those in addiction recovery at the Thamesville facility, but eventually expanded into the community to help women 16 years or older.

Those who participate are asked to fill out an evaluation form, and “the main response” was the program should be longer, according to the release.

Westover has now received one-time funding from the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network to add a fourth session to its April and May programs.

The program focuses on self-esteem, healthy relationships and empowerment, and is meant to be a first step in helping women become healthier, according to a news release. Women are also encouraged to seek help from other community agencies once they complete the program.

It was developed by students at the University of Windsor and staff at Westover.
