A high-powered Canadian rock act will come to the Chatham Capitol Theatre on June 22 to help celebrate RM Sotheby’s 40th anniversary.
Big Sugar will perform a fundraising concert with the proceeds going to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
Led by vocalist and guitarist, Gordie Johnson, the band is touring in support of newer songs like “Anything is Possible” from their latest album ‘Eternity Now.’
They are know for such hits as “Diggin’ A Hole,” “If I had My Way” and “Better Get Used to It.”
“We are excited to announce even more fun set for our 40th Anniversary Celebration weekend, which continues to grow,” said Rob Myers, founder, Chairman and CEO of RM Sotheby’s, in a release.
“Between the cars and the concerts, there will be something for everyone to enjoy on June 21-22 and we’re proud to support an organization as important as the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation with our events.
“The hospice has touched so many families in our community, including my own, and we look forward to seeing enthusiasts of all ages rocking out to Big Sugar at the Capitol Theatre for an amazing cause.”
Jodi Maroney, executive director for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, said the organization is excited for the concert.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity to raise funds to help us continue to offer hospice care,” she said.
Opening for Big Sugar will be local band Superfly. On-sale dates for Big Sugar and the previously announced Sam Roberts Band will be announced in the coming weeks.
Additional details on the weekend’s community activities and entertainment will be released as they become available.
