The demand was so great, an elementary school badminton tournament Friday needed two locations.
Ste. Catherine players won four of five divisions at Indian Creek Road Public School, while McNaughton Avenue players won two division at Chatham Christian School.
At Indian Creek, Katelynn Benn of St. Catherine was first in girls’ singles, Anna Dematteis of Georges P. Vanier was second and Mya Farrell of Ste. Anne was third.
Jack Countryman of St. Ursula won boys’ singles, Jay Cee Morlog of Indian Creek was second and Ethan Vethaak of Ste. Catherine was third.
Nico Moreno and Declan Waddick of Ste. Catherine won boys’ doubles, Aidan Wheeler and George Ansell of Ste. Catherine were second, and Clay Rodrigue and David Brown of Ste. Anne were third.
Zara Belanger-Pepper and Sam Lozon of Ste. Catherine won girls’ doubles, Sophie Garrow and Riley Graham of Indian Creek were second, and Hailey Charron and Sadie Breault of Ste. Anne were third.
Carver Michaud and Lindsay St. Germain of Ste. Catherine won mixed doubles, Maguire Graham and Mary Bondy of Ste. Catherine were second, and Maddux Beuckelare and Cadence Beuckelare of Indian Creek were third.
At Chatham Christian, Ashlynn Spence of Gregory Drive beat Morgyn Waudenberg of Ridgetown in the girls’ singles final.
David Williams of McNaughton defeated Carter Pittuck of St. Vincent in the boys’ singles final.
Rorey Elson and Gage Keil of McNaughton won the boys’ doubles final over Mack Owen and Anderson Campbell of Ridgetown.
Avery Sheppy and Taryn Decook of Ridgetown St. Michael won the girls’ doubles final over Bre Jackson and Kira Church of Gregory Drive.
Ben Zaborek and Yaroslava Buina of King George VI won the mixed doubles final over Lyndan Barlow and Laura Fischer of Ridgetown St. Michael.
The tournaments will continue for the next three Fridays.
