Chatham-Kent OPP charge Alberta man with impaired driving

A 48-year-old Alberta man is facing an impaired driving charge in connection to a rollover crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent early Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent OPP officers responded to the crash around 2:45 a.m. after a vehicle travelling west near Bloomfield Road left the roadway and went into the median, rolled over and came to a stop in the east lanes.

The OPP said the lone occupant was exhibiting signs of impairment, so he was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Chatham court on April 23 charged with impaired driving by alcohol or drug and driving with a blood-alcohol concentration over 80.

The crash closed the eastbound lands at Bloomfield Road for approximately three hours, OPP said.
