UEFA president "ashamed" of discrimination in football

Aleksander Ceferin spoke about the sport's issues during his opening speech at the governing body’s Equal Game conference

UEFA PRESIDENT Aleksander Ceferin has said he is “ashamed” of the ongoing discrimination in football.

Ceferin made the comments at the governing body’s anti-discrimination conference, Equal Game.

Racism against black players has continued to make headlines in recent months following several high-profile incidents of abuse against Raheem Sterling and other England players.

Ceferin said he was “simply ashamed” that in 2019 there was a need to organise a conference to promote diversity in football.
