Dresden: Thieves grabbed jewels and other treasures worth up to a billion euros from a German museum on Monday, Bild newspaper reported. Police sealed off the building in Dresden’s Baroque city palace and said they were still trying to work out what was missing. “We have not identified a perpetrator and nor have we yet made any arrests,” police spokesman Marko Laske said. Assange could die in British prison, say doctors
London: Wikileaks founder Julian Assange "could die in prison" if he is not given urgent medical care, a group of doctors warned on Monday. In an open letter to the UK's Home Secretary Priti Patel, a team of 60 international doctors said the 48-year-old Australian should be moved out of the high-security Belmarsh prison in London to receive an assessment at a university hospital, Efe news reported. Assange is facing an extradition process lodged by the US under the Espionage Act. IANS
Obesity can cause brain damage, predicts study
New York: While obesity is primarily associated with weight gain, a new study suggests it triggers inflammation in the nervous system that could damage brain. "Brain changes were found in obese adolescents related to regions responsible for control of appetite, emotions and cognitive functions," said study co-author Pamela Bertolazzi from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. The WHO data indicates the obese kids increased from 32 million in 1990 to 41 million in 2016 globally. IANS
