A Progressive Road, Bank Hall, St Michael man, while admitting to have cocaine paraphrenalia in his possession, nevertheless sought to assure a magistrate that had a handle on his habit.
Ron Anthony Darien Hazell, 23, was adamant that he could fight his drug habit on his own, when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick this afternoon.
Hazell said he bought the cocaine from a fellow because “he does deal with me and I does deal with him”.
The magistrate then told him that he had been before the court before for such an offence and was willing to get him the necessary help to fight his addiction.
“I can deal with it myself,” Hazell replied just before the magistrate informed him that he would spend six months at HMP Dodds.
“I am not trying to punish you,” Magistrate Frederick told him. “I am trying to keep you off the cocaine. So the time will hopefully wean you off the cocaine and keep you out of these drug holes.”
But Hazell’s legal troubles are far from over.
He is due to return to court on September 3 on an offensive weapon charge for allegedly carrying switchblade along Swan Street, the City that same day he was caught with the drug tools.
