Wounding accused denied bail

A 28-year-old painter was remanded to HMP Dodds today after the prosecutor argued strongly against his release on bail.

Nicholas Henry Rico Bailey of Phillips Road, St Stephens Hill, St Michael was not required to plead to the indictable charge that he trespassed on Kensush Craigg’s home on August 8 and “inflicted serious bodily harm” on the complainant while armed with a knife.

The prosecutor, Police Sergeant Cameron Gibbons, objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offence, the strength of the evidence, and for Craigg’s protection.

Sergeant Gibbons also pointed to the accused past criminal record and the fact that he was already on bail.

Bailey returns to the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on September 13.
