A young woman who assaulted her former boyfriend’s supervisor on the job will know her fate tomorrow.
Shawntell Shamika Blackman, 26, of Block 3J, Divison Drive, Eden Lodge, St Michael pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Sharon Stoute on
July 19. She also admitted that she did not leave the premises of Quality Business Services on the same day when told to do so by Stoute.
According to the prosecutor, Sergeant Edwin Pinder, Stoute is a supervisor at the business located at Massy Warrens.
Blackman was in the habit of coming around the business, located at the Massy complex in Warrens, when Stoute, a supervisor there, had warned her to leave during an argument with her then boyfriend.
On the aforementioned date, she went to the store and got into an argument with the ex-boyfriend whom she accused of stealing a SIM card from her cellphone. Blackman followed him into a room where Stoute faced a barrage of insults from the woman whom she had asked to leave.
She continued to hurl abuse, at which point Stoute further intervened. It was then that Blackman went on the attack, drawing blood by biting the supervisor on the finger. The two were separated and the matter was reported to the police.
But there was none of that gusto when Blackman appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant yesterday. Asked whether she had anything to say in her defence Blackman simply began crying.
The magistrate had to set the matter down for a few minutes in other for the woman to compose herself. When she returned to the dock she mumbled: “I’m sorry.”
The matter was then adjourned for tomorrow for Stoute to make an appearance in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court.
