The Home Office demanded that people applying for the right to remain in the UK supplied DNA evidence to prove their eligibility
THE HOME secretary has apologised to people who were forced to DNA tests to prove they had the right to remain in the UK.
Javid revealed that the Home Office has refused visas or leave to remain in the UK to those who did not provide the requested DNA evidence.
He said: "I want to take this opportunity to apologise to those affected by this practice.”
"The law in this context is that the provision of DNA evidence should always be voluntary and never mandatory,” he added.
