Ladd on NHL watch list
Windsor Spitfires defenceman Grayson Ladd of Kent Bridge is on NHL Central Scouting’s October watch list for the 2019 NHL draft.
The list released Monday gives prospects an ‘A’ rating (first-round candidate), ‘B’ rating (second and third rounds), or ‘C’ rating (fourth to sixth rounds).
Ladd, 17, has a ‘C’ rating. He has one goal in four games this season.
He skated this summer at Hockey Canada’s under-18 summer selection camp.
He was a first-round pick by the Kitchener Rangers in the 2017 OHL draft.
Jets demote Griffith
The Winnipeg Jets have sent veteran forward Seth Griffith of Wallaceburg to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, pending waivers.
Griffith had four assists in five preseason games with the Jets, who signed him to a one-year, two-way contract in the summer.
He’s played in the NHL with Boston, Toronto, Florida and Buffalo.
Tricks for Krieger, Spence
Ross Krieger of Pain Court and Grant Spence of Chatham notched hat tricks on back-to-back days for the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s North York Rangers.
Krieger scored three goals Monday in a 4-1 win over the Cobourg Cougars. He has 6-4-10 totals in nine games.
Spence scored three Sunday in a 5-1 win over the Wellington Dukes. He has 3-4-7 totals in nine games.
Both are former Chatham Maroons forwards.
C-K players on Hall team
The Windsor Lancers’ 1997-98 men’s hockey team was inducted Sunday into the University of Windsor’s Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.
The team included four Chatham-Kent players: Scott Bacik and Ritch Schaafsma of Blenheim, and Jamie Carr and Ryan Coristine of Chatham.
The Lancers won their first Queen’s Cup as Ontario champions in 1997-98.
