Stirling wins world powerlifting championship

Stirling wins world title

Kevin Stirling of Wallaceburg set a Canadian record while winning gold at the 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation world championship recently in Virginia Beach, Va.

Stirling is the world champion in the 90-kg class for 60-64 year-old men after making a total lift of 470 kilograms.

He had a squat of 150 kg, a bench press of 130 kg and a deadlift of 190 kg.

He broke his own Canadian record in the squat. He already owns the Canadian records in the bench press, deadlift and total lift.

The drug-free federation doesn’t allow supportive equipment, which is why it’s considered raw powerlifting.

The 2019 world championships will be held in Calgary.
