Yearwood will turn 45 at Dodds

A 44-year-old man facing eight charges, who failed to cooperate and then gave police a false name, will spend his birthday at HMP Dodds on remand.

He is Alvin Alexander Yearwood, of Seales Avenue, Tudor Bridge, St Michael.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today got his correct name before reading the charges and after prosecutor Acting Station Sergeant Cameron Gibbons informed the court of his earlier antics with police.

The accused was listed on the charge sheet as Adrian Alexander Alvin Alleyne.

He pleaded not guilty to possession of cannabis, resisting and assaulting officer Jason Maynard as well as assaulting officer Jonathan Stuart while they executed their duties on September 29.

He also denied riding a bicycle on Seales Road on the same day when it was not outfitted with a bell, number plate or brakes and disobeying a ‘no entry’ sign.

Sergeant Gibbons objected to bail on the grounds that the accused failed to cooperate with police and fears that if released he could abscond given his behaviour.

In his application for bail Yearwood stated that he had a young daughter that “I got to help send she school . . . I got to help pay the bills. This is the first time I getting remand if that is so.”

His application was denied and he was sent up to the St Philip penal institution until October 29.

“I have to spend my birthday in jail, Ma’am . . . cheese on,” the accused could be heard saying as he left the dock.
