Knight knows fate tomorrow

It may be a sleepless night for Keon Devonte Knight, as he awaits his a decision on his fate set for tomorrow in the District A Magistrates Court.

When he appeared before acting Magistrate Sandra Rawlins today, the 23-year-old of Melrose, St Thomas, pleaded guilty to one charge but denied the other. Both charges involved his former girlfriend Karon Carrington.

While he admitted to damaging a $600 cellphone belonging to Carrington on November 26, he denied that he assaulted her causing her actual bodily harm on the same date.

Station Sergeant Carrison Henry said the two were in an intimate relationship that Carrington ended last month. They have a ten-month-old daughter together.

Around 6:15 p.m. she was at home with family members when Knight came to the house to deliver funds for the child. On his arrival he became involved in a heated dispute with her and as a result he took her cellphone and threw it to the ground, damaging it in the process.

The magistrate released him on $4,000 bail and ordered him to return to court tomorrow when the complainant is expected to be present and will advise the court on whether she is interested in being compensated.
