Taxi driver fined

A $100 fine was imposed on a taxi man today who admitted to having a small quantity of marijuana in his possession.

Rasheed Adrian Rajkumar Eastmond of Bathland, St Joseph was in the back seat of his taxi along Dover, Christ Church yesterday when police who were on foot patrol walked up and requested a search after noticing a strong odour emanating from the vehicle.

Three wrappers containing the illicit vegetable substance were found.

Eastmond who is known to the court told acting Magistrate Sandra Rollins he was not a regular user of the controlled substance.

The fine which carried an alternative of one month in prison was paid.
