Police briefs: Domestic disturbance leads to charges

Early Saturday, Chatham-Kent police responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in Wheatley.

A man allegedly assaulted his wife and refused to let her leave the home, police said. The man reportedly fled prior to police arrival and attempts were made to find him. On Sunday, the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 26-year-old man is charged with forcible confinement and three counts of assault. He was released with a court date.

Charges laid after altercation

An argument began between a man and his girlfriend early Sunday. The incident allegedly escalated into a physical altercation as the woman tried to leave his home, police said.

The woman was able to free herself and fled for safety, police added.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested Monday and charged with forcible confinement and assault. He was held for bail

Outstanding warrant

On Jan. 11, a woman was released from custody for the offences of failing to attend court and break and enter.

On Jan. 30, she reportedly failed to attend court again and a warrant was issued for her arrest, police said.

On Sunday night, police responded to a noise complaint at a home in Wallaceburg. Police found the woman in the home and she was arrested on the warrant.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with driving under suspension

An officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Bedford Street in Chatham on Sunday.

The driver, a 52-year-old Chatham man, was charged with driving while under suspension and using plates not authorized for the vehicle. He will be required to attend provincial offences court. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Multiple occurrences with Chatham man

On Saturday, a 36-year-old Chatham man was located in Chatham and arrested in relation to a reported indecent act.

The man was released with a court date following the arrest. Later on, the same man was seen fleeing a suspected break and enter and arrested. The man was searched upon being arrested and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine was located, police said.

The man faces new charges of break and enter and possession. He was held for bail.

Pharmacy break-in

Sunday, police responded to a pharmacy in Chatham for an alarm. The pharmacy was checked and it was determined that an unknown suspect gained entry to the pharmacy from an adjoining business.

This business showed signs of a break and enter as well, police added. Several items were removed once the suspect gained entry, but no prescription medication is believed to have been stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

Outstanding warrants

Early Saturday, a woman was turned over to the Chatham-Kent police by Leamington OPP.

She was arrested on an outstanding warrant for uttering threats, unlawful confinement, mischief, breach of recognizance and failure to attend court. The 31-year-old was held for bail.

Also on Saturday, a woman was turned over to the Chatham-Kent police by Middlesex OPP.

She was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft, possession and failure to appear. The 28-year-old was held for bail.

Police investigate break-ins

Police responded to a break and enter at Clearville Park Campground on Friday.

Several sheds were broken into and there are currently no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Brad Molnar at bradleym@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 ext. 86444.

Also on Friday, police responded to a break and enter at a Blenheim home. The back door to the home was kicked in and nothing is believed to have been taken at this time. There are currently no suspects.
