Red tape session planned for next week

Chatham-Kent residents and businesses are invited to attend a community engagement session discussing the municipality’s efforts to reduce red tape.

Launched in June of last year, the Continuous Improvement and Red Tape Reduction Project included an internal review of existing activities.

The project is focused on identifying new opportunities for improving processes and allow for easier investment and growth across Chatham-Kent.

“We are looking forward to hearing directly from the community and having their input on what has been achieved so far and the next steps to be taken,” said John Norton, general manager of community development, in a media release.

“There has already been some excellent information collected through our online survey and this event will provide another platform to discuss ideas in greater detail.”

The upcoming event will be held on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. in council chambers.

It will include an overview of the project and examples of ongoing improvement activities in building development, planning, economic development and legal services.

Following the presentations, there will be time for questions and feedback. Members of the public are invited to make a formal deputation.

To arrange a deputation, contact Jenn Wiseman at 519-360-1998 ext. 3801, or email JenniferW@chatham-kent.ca.

“Ultimately our goal is to make it even easier for people and businesses to invest in Chatham-Kent,” Norton said.

Registration isn’t required, but participants can RSVP by visiting the website: https://www.letstalkchatham-kent.ca/continuous-improvement-and-red-tape-reduction-project
