Thefts, break-ins keep C-K cops busy

Chatham-Kent police have been kept busy dealing with thefts and break-ins that occurred over the past few days.

Police said two gold Can-Am ATVs and a trailer, with a total estimated value of $30,000, were stolen from Tilbury Delta Power Equipment.

The theft was discovered after police responded to an alarm at the business around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said around noon on Monday, a 20-year-old man went to the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham and stole two security cameras.

He was arrested and charged with theft and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released with a court date.

Police said approximately $4,000 worth of tools were stolen from an unlocked trailer after entry was gained by force into a locked compound on Grand Avenue East in Chatham sometime over the weekend.

Police said a generator and various tools were stolen from a garage on Countryview Line sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday.

Police are investigating the theft of a black Energizer bag containing a laptop, GPS and keys from a vehicle parked on St. Clair Street in Chatham on Monday.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $1,250.

Youths charged with assault

Chatham-Kent police said two youths were arrested on Monday in connection with an incident at a high school in Chatham last week.

Both males were charged with assault and released with a court date, police said.

Mischief

A 63-year-old Chatham man is facing a mischief charge in connection to an argument with another man, he knows, that took place at a Chatham residence Monday morning.

The incident resulted in window being damaged, Chatham-Kent police said.

The man was released with a court date.

Fail to comply

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 36-year-old woman in Chatham on Monday morning for breaching her release conditions by communicating with a man that she was under a court order not to associate with.

She was charged with failing to comply and taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing, police said.
