Another weekend of prayer is in store for the island.
This time around, the National Network of Pastors and Leaders, an inter-denominational group of churches, have invited Barbadians to join in a national prayer gathering in “this unprecedented moment in our nation’s history”.
Following a spate of gun-related violence and murders, in recent weeks, the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, declared February 2 and 3, as a Weekend of Prayer to pray for the restoration of peace in society.
Speaking during a press conference at his Brittons Hill, St Michael Restoration Ministries Church, this morning, Pastor David Durant said that the Weekend of Prayer, which was being planned since last year, was an effort to break the scourge of violence and the curses of poverty, through divine intercession.

He said the church leaders would be interceding for the repositioning of Barbados to be a preferred place for people to live, work, raise and educate families.
The prayer sessions would be held on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2, at Independence Square, The City, between
6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
“We are kindly asking all Barbadians, Christians and non-Christians, as well as residents and visitors to join us in making a difference in transforming the spiritual climate over our island through the power of prayer.
“The Lord has always been the people’s guide in making our nation a preferred place for all generations, all races, and all ethnic groups to live, to work and to do business,” Durant said.
Also speaking at the press conference was Apostle Eliseus Joseph, the senior pastor at Apostolic Teaching Center, who said the group has invited all religious organisations and groups, to participate in the event.
“This is a national prayer that involves all Barbadians and we are making an effort to reach as many people as possible. This press conference is also an attempt to reach beyond our churches,” Joseph said.
