Chatham-Kent police have arrested four people in connection to separate incidents of violence.
Police said a 50-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges in connection with an incident that occurred early Monday morning after an argument between the accused and a woman escalated into a physical altercation.
Through investigation, police learned this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.
The accused was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, three counts of assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000.
He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
On Sunday night, police received a 911 call from a woman running away from her boyfriend, a 29-year-old Chatham man.
The woman was located by officers on Grand Avenue in Chatham and, through investigation, police learned she had been assaulted and the man had stolen her phone after she called police.
The accused was located early Monday morning and arrested. He is charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats.
He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
On Sunday afternoon, police responded to a domestic dispute at a St. Clair Street home in Chatham.
This resulted in a 19-year-old Chatham woman being arrested and charged with assaulting her boyfriend, police said.
She was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a disturbance at a business in Chatham that resulted in a 44-year-old man, of no fixed address, being charged with assault.
A female employee confronted a man regarding an ongoing theft investigation, police said.
The accused allegedly assaulted the woman and left the store, but was located a short distance away, arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
Man accused of lying to C-K cops
A 20-year-old Chatham man has been charged in connection to lying to Chatham-Kent police about an incident involving a motor vehicle.
Police previously issued a media release about responding to an abandoned vehicle in a field on Eight Line near Merlin Road shortly after 7 a.m. last Thursday.
Police said the accused subsequently reported the 2017 Porsche Cheyanne has been stolen.
An investigation revealed the driver had been deceitful, police alleged.
The accused was arrested on Friday and charged with public mischief, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop at the scene of an accident, police said.
He was released with a May 7 court date.
Pair charged with failing to comply
Two people were taken into custody by Chatham-Kent police early Monday morning after it was discovered they were not to be associating with each other.
Just before 3 a.m., officers located a 36-year-old man inside a Chatham apartment, who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.
Through investigation, police learned that a 26-year-old Chatham woman, who was also in the apartment, was on conditions not to communicate with the man.
She was arrested and found with methamphetamine while being searched during the arrest, police said.
The woman was charged with failing to comply with her release conditions and drug possession.
Both the accused were taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
