Golliwog ‘Mo Farah’ doll banned from Kent market

The racist creation was on sale at a Christmas event

A KNITTED doll designed to depict Olympic champion Mo Farah has been banned from sale at a Christmas market in Kent.

The racist doll was on sale alongside a set of other characters, marketed as a Rastafarians, including one named Bob Marley.

A number of complaints about the golliwog dolls prompted Medway council to intervene.

The council released a statement addressing the controversy on behalf of Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services.

It read: “We do not allow ‘Gollys’ to be sold at the Rochester Christmas Market.
